A low-power territorial network where field nodes filter, interpret and prioritise data before sending it over long distances.

LoRaWAN provides long-range communication with small energy and bandwidth budgets. Edge intelligence can make that constraint useful: a node can detect change, summarise a measurement or raise an alert locally, sending only what the shared service needs. The research focuses on coverage, energy autonomy, explainable rules, offline recovery and maintainability.

  1. Environmental, water, energy or infrastructure monitoring across dispersed sites.
  2. Local anomaly detection that reduces transmissions and response time.
  3. Store-and-forward operation when gateways or internet access are unavailable.
